seconds.\u00a0 Fortunately, there are things you can do to protect your phone from being hacked.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 id=\"h-install-the-latest-software-updates\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Install the latest software updates<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think twice about ignoring software update notifications.\u00a0 Although it feels like you\u2019re being interrupted at the worst time, the upgrades are for your own good.\u00a0 Software updates usually fix security flaws and bugs to keep you safe from the latest threats.\u00a0 Plus, you\u2019ll get your device\u2019s newest features and improve its overall performance.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 id=\"h-lock-your-device\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Lock your device<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most people aren\u2019t that creative when it comes to choosing a <a with an email.\u00a0 Scammers like to use a technique called phishing to try to get you to reveal personal information like your password or <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Social_Security_number\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Social Security number<\/a> so they can gain access to your accounts.\u00a0 They\u2019ll send texts or emails saying things like they\u2019ve noticed suspicious activity on your account, there\u2019s a problem with your payment information, a fake delivery confirmation or promise you a free prize.\u00a0 None of which are true. \u00a0The link provided will take you to a fake website and any information you enter will be stolen.\u00a0 Sometimes they may even install malware on your device.\u00a0 If you receive an unexpected text or email asking for personal information, don\u2019t click the link.\u00a0 Instead, open a browser and type in the company\u2019s website yourself or
