As if tax time \u00a0isn\u2019t difficult enough, the IRS<\/a> is warning taxpayers that this season will be especially frustrating.\u00a0 IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig says, \u201cIn many areas, we are unable to deliver the amount of service and enforcement that our taxpayers and tax system deserves and needs.\u201d.\u00a0 They\u2019re dealing with an enormous backlog of returns, staffing shortages and a major increase in call volume.\u00a0 According to its website, the IRS had 6 million unprocessed individual tax returns at the end of December.\u00a0 And things may get worse now that a new filing season is underway.\u00a0 Despite the warning, there are things you can do to avoid problems and get your refund<\/a> as quickly as possible.<\/p>\r\n
