target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">health insurance<\/a> for 2021?\u00a0 Well, you\u2019re in luck.\u00a0 The Special Enrollment Period has been extended to August 15<sup>th<\/sup> due to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/COVID-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">COVID-19<\/a>.\u00a0 This is your chance to enroll in a new plan or make changes to a plan you already have.\u00a0 Thanks to the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/American_Rescue_Plan_Act_of_2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Rescue Plan<\/a>, more people are eligible for a premium tax credit, which will lower your monthly premiums.\u00a0 Your credit amount is based on your 2021 estimated income.\u00a0 Even if you weren\u2019t eligible for financial assistance in the past, you may qualify now.\u00a0 Keep in mind, if you change plans or add a new family member, the out-of-pocket costs you already paid towards your 2021 plan mostly likely won\u2019t count towards your new deductible.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 id=\"h-how-to-get-health-coverage\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to get health coverage<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To get health coverage through a Marketplace plan, you can apply and enroll at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthcare.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HealthCare.gov<\/a>.\u00a0 Depending on where you live, your state may have its own special website for you to use. \u00a0Before you begin, you&#8217;ll be able compare plans and the estimated costs based on your income.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-horizontal is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-7d812b4c wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-luminous-vivid-orange-background-color class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although there\u2019s no federal penalty for being uninsured, it\u2019s not a smart idea.\u00a0 One major sickness or accident can leave you with a pile of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Debt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">debt<\/a>.\u00a0 According to HealthCare.gov, the average cost of a 3-day hospitalization is approximately $30,000.\u00a0 Most people don\u2019t even have enough money saved to cover a $1,000 emergency so imagine the kind of damage that hospital bill will do to your
