{"id":23201,"date":"2021-01-29T09:49:19","date_gmt":"2021-01-29T14:49:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.eztaxreturn.com\/?p=23201"},"modified":"2023-06-04T15:01:43","modified_gmt":"2023-06-04T20:01:43","slug":"answers-to-your-questions-about-the-second-stimulus-check","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.eztaxreturn.com\/blog\/answers-to-your-questions-about-the-second-stimulus-check\/","title":{"rendered":"Answers to Your Questions About the Second Stimulus Check"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After months of waiting, taxpayers are finally receiving a second stimulus check.\u00a0 Nearly 160 million Americans are eligible for the payment.\u00a0 Now that you know it\u2019s coming, you may be wondering who qualifies?\u00a0 How much are you getting and when?\u00a0 Here are the answers to the most common questions.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 id=\"h-how-much-is-the-second-stimulus-payment\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How much is the second stimulus check?<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second stimulus check is worth $600 for eligible individuals.\u00a0 Couples who file taxes jointly can receive a $1,200 payment.\u00a0 If you have children aged 16 or younger, you can receive an additional $600 for each qualifying child.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 id=\"h-is-there-an-income-limit-for-getting-a-check\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Is there an income limit for getting a check?<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Single filers whose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eztaxreturn.com\/contact-and-support\/tax-terms.html#adjustedbasis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">adjusted gross income (AGI)<\/a> is $75,000 or less will receive the full $600 payment.\u00a0 Joint filers with an AGI up to $150,000 can receive a total of $1,200.\u00a0 Meanwhile, those filing as head of household with an AGI up to $112,500 can receive $600.\u00a0 Once you earn more than the threshold, your payment will be gradually reduced.\u00a0 The payments phase out completely once your AGI reaches $87,000 for single filers, $174,000 for married filing jointly and $124,500 for head of household.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 id=\"h-what-do-i-need-to-do-to-get-my-payment\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What do I need to do to get the second stimulus check?<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don\u2019t have to do anything to get the second stimulus check.\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eztaxreturn.com\/contact-and-support\/tax-terms.html#interestincome\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IRS<\/a> will automatically issue your payment based on the information from your 2019 tax return.\u00a0 If you didn\u2019t file, but received benefits from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eztaxreturn.com\/contact-and-support\/tax-terms.html#single\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Social Security Administration<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Veteran Affairs<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/rrb.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Railroad Retirement Board<\/a>, the IRS will use that information to calculate your stimulus.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-horizontal is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-7d812b4c wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-luminous-vivid-orange-background-color has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ezTaxReturn.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">File your taxes now!<\/a><\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00a0<\/h2>\r\n<h2 id=\"h-how-will-i-receive-the-money\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How will I receive the second stimulus?<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most people will receive their payment through direct deposit.\u00a0 However, if the IRS doesn\u2019t have your routing and bank account number on file, you\u2019ll be sent a check or debit card in the mail. \u00a0It can take 3 or 4 weeks to show up in your mailbox so try to be patient.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 id=\"h-when-will-i-get-my-second-stimulus-check\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When will I get my second stimulus check?<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The IRS started issuing payments at the end of December.\u00a0 You can check the status of your payment using the IRS \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/coronavirus\/get-my-payment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Get My Payment<\/a>\u201d tool.\u00a0 It will tell you if your payment has been issued and how it was sent.\u00a0 The tool is usually updated overnight. If you receive a message saying \u201cPayment Status Not Available\u201d it means you won\u2019t automatically receive your payment.
