{"id":19285,"date":"2019-10-30T17:27:15","date_gmt":"2019-10-30T21:27:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.eztaxreturn.com\/?p=19285"},"modified":"2023-06-06T06:56:19","modified_gmt":"2023-06-06T11:56:19","slug":"5-must-know-first-aid-tips","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.eztaxreturn.com\/blog\/5-must-know-first-aid-tips\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Basic First Aid Tips Everyone Needs to Know"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At some point or another, bad things are going to happen, and you need to know how to handle the situation.\u00a0 Knowing the fundamentals of first aid can potentially save someone\u2019s life.\u00a0 Here are five basic first aid tips everyone needs to know.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to perform CPR<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you witness someone suddenly collapse or come across a person lying unconscious, they may be in need of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cardiopulmonary_resuscitation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"CPR (opens in a new tab)\">CPR<\/a>.\u00a0 First, tap them on the shoulder and ask if they\u2019re okay.\u00a0 Call 9-1-1 immediately if the person is unresponsive. The next thing you need to do is lay the person on their back, but be careful when moving them. Tilt their head back slightly to open their airways then take a few seconds to see whether the person is breathing.\u00a0 If they don\u2019t take a breath within 10 seconds, start CPR.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>For adult victims, you\u2019re going to use a 2-hand technique to give 30 chest compressions.\u00a0 Place one hand on top of the other and clasp them together.\u00a0 Push hard and fast in the center of the person\u2019s chest slightly below the nipples.\u00a0 Your compressions need to be at least 2 inches deep to be effective.\u00a0 Ideally, you want to deliver at least 100 compressions per minute.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li>After every 30 compressions, give the victim two rescue breaths.\u00a0 Pinch the person\u2019s nose shut, place your mouth on theirs and blow to make their chest rise. If you\u2019re uncomfortable giving rescue breaths at least keep performing chest compressions.\u00a0 Doing so will keep oxygenated blood flowing to the brain and other vital organs.<\/li>\r\n<li>Repeat the cycle of 30 chest compressions and 2 rescue breaths until help arrives or the victim wakes up.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00a0<\/h4>\r\n<h2><strong>How to treat a burn<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When it comes to burns the first thing you want to do is evaluate its severity.\u00a0 Seek medical attention if the burned area is larger than 3 inches or you have black or white charred skin.\u00a0 The latter indicates that you\u2019re dealing with third-degree burns.\u00a0 Minor burns can be handled on your own by holding the skin under cool running water for at least 10 minutes.\u00a0 Do not apply ice to the area. If you\u2019re in pain, you can take <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ibuprofen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"ibuprofen (opens in a new tab)\">ibuprofen<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paracetamol\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"acetaminophen (opens in a new tab)\">acetaminophen<\/a> for relief.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to take care of cuts and scrapes<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some people freak out at the sight of blood, but there\u2019s no need to panic over a minor cut or scrape.\u00a0 Simply cover the wound with a clean cloth and apply gentle pressure for 20 minutes.\u00a0 This will help the blood to clot.\u00a0 Once the bleeding stops, you can clean the wound with water, then apply an <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Antibiotic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"antibiotic (opens in a new tab)\">antibiotic<\/a> ointment and a bandage.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to heal a sprained ankle<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sprains are one of the most common injuries.\u00a0 They usually occur when you twist or roll your ankle awkwardly.\u00a0 An effective way to treat a sprain is to use the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/RICE_(medicine)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"R.I.C.E.
