wants on their food.\u00a0 Slicing raw meat can leave behind <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Salmonella\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">salmonella<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Campylobacter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">campylobacter<\/a> if you don\u2019t wash your board properly.\u00a0 Therefore, it\u2019s important to use a disinfectant and hot water or throw it in the dishwater.\u00a0 It\u2019s also a good idea to use separate cutting boards for meats and vegetables to avoid cross-contamination.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Kitchen sponges spread germs<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Believe it or not, your kitchen sponge is nowhere near as clean as you think.\u00a0 While you\u2019re washing dishes and wiping countertops, you\u2019re also spreading germs.\u00a0 Kitchen sponges and dishcloths contain the largest amount of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Escherichia_coli\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">E. coli<\/a> and other fecal bacteria in the average home.\u00a0 Aside from replacing them frequently, you can also kill a lot of germs by heating your damp sponge in the microwave.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Your \u201cclean\u201d clothes aren&#8217;t so clean<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When you do your laundry, you expect your clothes to come out clean.\u00a0 However, that may not be the case if your underwear is in there.\u00a0 The average pair of underwear contains one-tenth of a gram of poop.\u00a0 Washing a mixed load will spread at least 100 million E. coli in the water and onto your clothes.\u00a0 The best way to get rid of the germs is to use bleach and water that\u2019s between 140-150 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Your office desk may be making you sick<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Your job may be making you sick and it\u2019s not due to stress.\u00a0 Research shows that the average work desk contains 400 times more germs than a toilet seat.\u00a0 That breaks down to approximately 20,961 germs per square inch.\u00a0 However, that\u2019s not the only filthy spot in your office.\u00a0 The average keyboard contains 3,295 germs per square inch, the mouse has 1,676 and phone takes the cake with 25,127. \u00a0If you want to stop the spread of germs like <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Staphylococcal_infection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">staph<\/a> and E. coli, you need to wipe down the area with antibacterial wipes regularly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Your beloved smartphone is 10x dirtier than a toilet seat<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>These days people are so inseparable from their phones that they can&#8217;t even use the bathroom without it.\u00a0 Therefore, it\u2019s no surprise that smartphones carry 10 times more bacteria than most toilet seats.\u00a0 The easiest way to reduce the spread of germs is to leave your phone behind while you handle your business.\u00a0 It\u2019s also a good idea to clean your device regularly.\u00a0 To do so, you\u2019ll need a soft cloth as well as a mixture of 60% water and 40% rubbing alcohol.\u00a0 Just dip the cloth in the solution and give your phone a good scrub.\u00a0 Obviously, you don\u2019t want to make the cloth soaking wet otherwise you run the risk of damaging your phone.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ice from fast food restaurants<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The next time you place an order at your favorite fast food joint, think twice about getting an ice-cold beverage.\u00a0 A study showed that ice in 6 out of 10 restaurants contained more <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bacteria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bacteria<\/a> than toilet water.\u00a0 If possible, stick to refrigerated bottled drinks or ask them
