doorbell or creaky floorboard, something\u2019s bound to fall apart due to normal daily use.\u00a0 Fortunately, many of the home improvement projects you\u2019ll face are things you can DIY fairly easily. \u00a0Here are some quick fixes for common household problems.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Problem #1:\u00a0 Slow-draining sinks<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Sink draining slow as molasses?\u00a0 Grab a box of baking soda and a bottle of vinegar.\u00a0 Dump a \u00bd cup of baking soda down the drain followed by a \u00bd cup of vinegar.\u00a0 Give it a few minutes to foam up and do its thing.\u00a0 Then wash it down with some hot water.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Problem #2:\u00a0 Squeaky doors<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Normally, when doors start squeaking people run for a bottle of WD-40.\u00a0 However, there are other household items you can use to get the job done.\u00a0 For instance, petroleum jelly, cooking oil or a bar of soap.\u00a0 Simply, remove the hinge pin from the door, coat it in the lubricant of your choice and slide it back in.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Problem #3:\u00a0 Ants are taking over everything<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As the temperature begins to rise, its not uncommon for ants to start making their way into your home.\u00a0 An easy way to keep them away is to spray lemon juice or clove oil around windows, doorways and any other suspected entryways.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Problem #4:\u00a0 Stinky garbage disposal<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019ve scrubbed your sink a million times and still can\u2019t get rid of that rotten smell, your garbage disposal is probably to blame.\u00a0 First, you need to get rid of any gunk that may be trapped in there.\u00a0 To do so, throw a large cup of ice and a \u00bd cup of kosher salt into the disposal.\u00a0 Then turn on the blades.\u00a0 Both items will work together to dislodge the residue.\u00a0 To ensure the funk stays away, grind up pieces of lemon, orange or grapefruit in the garbage disposal.\u00a0 These natural deodorizers will keep your home smelling fresh.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Problem #5:\u00a0 Washing machine shakes or moves<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Having your washing machine drift across the room during the spin cycle is a sign that the legs may need to be leveled.\u00a0 Peek under the machine to see if it\u2019s standing firmly on all four legs.\u00a0 If it\u2019s not, you\u2019ll need to adjust the legs accordingly.\u00a0 In most cases, the legs can be turned by hand.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Problem #6:\u00a0 Doorbell button doesn\u2019t work<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Usually when you come across doorbell issues, it\u2019s the push button that\u2019s died on you.\u00a0 Fortunately, it\u2019s not that complicated to fix and the low-voltage wires means you won\u2019t electrocute yourself.\u00a0 Begin by removing the screws holding the doorbell in place.\u00a0 Disconnect the wires and touch them together.\u00a0 If the doorbell rings, the push button is the problem and you can swap it out with a new one.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Problem #7:\u00a0 Toilet has a weak flush<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are a few reasons why a toilet won\u2019t flush properly.\u00a0 The most obvious being it\u2019s clogged.\u00a0 Items like baby wipes, face wipes and sanitary napkins say \u201cflushable\u201d on the label but are known to cause plumbing issues.\u00a0 Play it safe and throw them in the trash after each use.\u00a0 Typically, you can clear a clogged toilet by using a plunger or toilet auger.\u00a0 Another reason for a weak flush is the water level in the tank being too low.\u00a0 Check to see if it\u2019s set to the manufacturer\u2019s water line. \u00a0If not, raise the fill valve to the proper height which is approximately \u00bd inch from the top of the overflow tube.\u00a0 The final culprit behind a weak flush is the flapper.\u00a0 If the flapper closes too quickly, you need to adjust the chain so there\u2019s minimal slack (\u00bc to \u00bd inch).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Problem #8:\u00a0 Creaking floorboards<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Squeaky floors driving you crazy?\u00a0 You can fix this common household problem by locating the noisy boards and sprinkling baby powder on it.\u00a0 Pour enough so that it gets into every nook and cranny.\u00a0 This will lubricate the boards and stop the annoying sounds.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">File your taxes fast and ez in 30 minutes or
